Hot water repairs Double Bay
“Honey, there’s something wrong with the hot water in this tub. Why is it brown in colour?” Joanne called from the bathroom.
Rick went in to have a look. Just as his wife had pointed out, the water was dark brown in colour.
He drained out the dirty water and turned on the cold water. The water was crystal clear. He then checked out the hot water in the rest of the house. No problems there. The problem seemed localized to a single bathroom.
“Must be some dirt in the heater”, Rick said as he got out the toolbox to take a look.
They had shifted to their new home two days ago. This was Joanne’s first shower in their new house.
The house got its water from the well. Rick knew that this water was a little hard. He had worked with a local plumber to put in a water softener. But, why was the hot water showing discoloration? If there was a problem with the incoming water, should it not show discoloration everywhere? Could it be a problem with the water heater?
The hot water heater was new. The local plumber had fixed it for them. There were no deposits inside. In the course of the next few days, Rick flushed out the water heater more than 10 times. Even so, the hot water in that bathroom was still brown in colour.
After a little asking around, Rick identified a plumbing expert. These people worked in the neighbouring areas and took care of plumbing problems all over the neighbourhood, starting from Bellevue Hill, Rose Bay, North Bondi and Woollahra to the Eastern Suburbs, Edgecliffe and Point Piper. His neighbours used their services and they were extremely happy with these guys. Rick decided to give them a try.
He called the emergency plumber from Double Bay and related his problem. The plumber asked him a number of questions. Then, he promised to visit him that afternoon to look at the hot water service.
The plumber came on time. After some checking, he identified the problem. The anode in the hot water service was in desperate need of a service.
After this was replace, the plumber flushed the hot water system of all the dirty water and filled it back up. For the first time, they were able to take a steaming shower in their tub, thanks to the emergency plumber from Double Bay.
